Treatment For Endomestriosis
Gynecologic surgeons utilize laparoscopy to both diagnose and treat endometriosis. In most cases, the diagnosis and operative treatment are performed during a single procedure.
- local or general anesthesia may be used
- surgeon will make a small incision to the abdomen near the navel
- a laparoscope (with a tiny camera) is inserted to allow the surgeon to view the reproductive organs
- if endometriosis is detected, the surgeon will utilize thin surgical instruments to excise and remove any endometriotic lesions and adhesions that are present
