Treatment For Endomestriosis

Gynecologic surgeons utilize laparoscopy to both diagnose and treat endometriosis. In most cases, the diagnosis and operative treatment are performed during a single procedure.

  • local or general anesthesia may be used
  • surgeon will make a small incision to the abdomen near the navel
  • a laparoscope (with a tiny camera) is inserted to allow the surgeon to view the reproductive organs
  • if endometriosis is detected, the surgeon will utilize thin surgical instruments to excise and remove any endometriotic lesions and adhesions that are present
