Palatopharyngoplasty

Palatopharyngoplasty is a surgical procedure involving the removal of unnecessary soft tissue from the roof of the mouth. This procedure is used to cure excess snoring and/or in the treatment of sleep apnea.

  • general anesthesia is typically used
  • surgeon may remove excess soft tissue from the soft palate, and/or reposition other tissue to create an open airway
  • tonsils will usually be removed as well
