Nasal

Nasal fracture manipulation/reduction is a surgical procedure utilized to repair fractured nasal bones and cartilage (a broken nose). Two different procedures may be used. “Closed Reduction” is usually done under local anesthesia. “Open Reduction” is done under general anesthesia.

  • for closed reduction, the surgeon uses instruments inserted into the nasal cavities to manipulate the fractured bones and cartilage back into place
  • for open reduction, the surgeon also makes several small incisions and inserts wires or other materials to hold the fractured bones in place
