Adenoidectomy & Tonsillectomy

Adenoidectomy and Tonsillectomy are procedures used to remove the adenoids from the back of the nasal cavity and/or remove the tonsils from the back of the mouth. These procedures are often performed together to relieve obstructed breathing, treat sleep apnea or due to inflammation/infection.

  • Local or general anesthesia may be used
  • For Tonsillectomy, the surgeon depresses the tongue and removes the tonsils with a surgical instrument
  • For Adenoidectomy, the adenoids are usually removed through the nose using a scope and surgical instruments
