Biopsy Rectal
A rectal biopsy involves removal of a small tissue sample from the rectum for
laboratory analysis.
- Procedure normally does not require general anesthesia or sedatives
- Procedure involves use of a lighted scope that is inserted into the anus
- Removal of tissue from the rectum is typically painless
- Electrocauterization (heat) may be used to stop any bleeding caused by the procedure
