Lipectomy
Also commonly known as a “liposuction,” lipectomy is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is utilized to reshape parts of the body by removing excess fat.
- local or general anesthesia may be used
- surgeon makes a small incision in the skin
- a narrow metal tube (cannula) with openings near the tip is inserted into the incision
- suction is applied through the tube, and the surgeon passes the instrument forward and backward to remove excess fat tissue from the body
