Palatopharyngoplasty
Palatopharyngoplasty is a surgical procedure involving the removal of unnecessary soft tissue from the roof of the mouth. This procedure is used to cure excess snoring and/or in the treatment of sleep apnea.
- general anesthesia is typically used
- surgeon may remove excess soft tissue from the soft palate, and/or reposition other tissue to create an open airway
- tonsils will usually be removed as well
