Dr. Kaufman is Board Certified in general surgery and is fellowship trained in surgical oncology. Dr. Kaufman specializes in the practice of general surgery and the surgical care of cancers of the skin, soft tissues, and abdominal, pelvic, and endocrine organs. Dr. Kaufman, a native of Abbeville, Louisiana, is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed a six-year general surgery residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga, followed by a two-year fellowship in surgical oncology at The Ohio State University Medical Center and James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Kaufman practiced as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology at the James Cancer hospital prior to commencing practice in Lafayette. He is a member of The American College of Surgeons, The Society of Surgical Oncology, The American Society of Breast Surgeons, and The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract.
