Dr. Barrios is a Board Certified General Surgeon and has been in practice for 15 years. He received his medical education through Louisiana State University Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. He completed his General Surgery internship with LSU at Charity Hospital, New Orleans, LA in June 1997 and finished his General Surgery residency with the LSU Department of Surgery, New Orleans in May of 2002. As a surgery resident, he was honored to be named Outstanding Resident for his first two years of residency and was named the Teaching Chief Resident for his last year. He entered General Surgery private practice in New Iberia, LA and five years later relocated to his current location in Lafayette, Louisiana. He’s also a decorated military veteran who has served 20 years with the Army and Air Force and retired in 2013 as the Commander of the 159th Fight Wing Medical Group. Born and raised in south Louisiana, he’s always had the benefit of experiencing southern hospitality as a way of life. He feels that treating others as you would want to be treated and caring for their needs as if they were your own family is the best approach.
